Susan is an independent practicing Speech Pathologist consulting at Adelaide Voice Therapy.

She holds extensive clinical experience spanning more than 40 years, working primarily with adults. Susan has worked across a number of major tertiary acute public and private hospitals in addition to psychogeriatric and rehabilitation settings in SA, Tasmania and NT. She has experience in the areas of neurological cognitive, communication and swallowing disorders. In particular, she has developed specialist clinical skills in the assessment and management of voice related (organic pathology and functional neurological) and upper airway (chronic cough, inducible laryngeal obstruction) disorders. She also has an interest in working with clients to achieve gender-affirming voice.

Susan currently works at the Royal Adelaide Hospital as the Outpatient Senior Speech Pathology Lead in Laryngology, additionally coordinating the diagnostic Voice Clinic alongside Ear Nose and Throat consultant surgeons to assist in the diagnosis and management advice of voice and upper airway disorders.

Susan holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Psychology from Adelaide University, alongside an interest in systems theory and family therapy which informs her holistic approach to working with clients. She has completed a certificate in Meditation (Teacher Training Level 1) She enjoys working with clients across the age spectrum from young adults to the elderly.

As a mother of four adult children, and someone who has spent much of her life in small rural communities both in SA and NT, her genuine warmth and maturity reflect her keen interest and awareness of the interaction between physical and emotional health with personal and family wellbeing.

Susan is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist and a current member of the Australian Voice Association, Laryngology Society of Australasia and Speech Pathology Australia.
