Jane is a highly experienced Speech Pathologist with a special focus on Voice and Upper Airway Disorders. With over 30 years of clinical experience in hospital, rehabilitation, and private practice settings in SA and in the UK, Jane brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our clinic.

Her passion for voice was ignited through her early training for Trinity College London Speech and Drama Exams alongside her participation in amateur acting and public speaking. Jane is fascinated by the connection between the voice as a means of self expression and its impact on social, psychological and emotional wellbeing.

With more than 16 years dedicated to voice therapy, Jane works with both adults and children facing a wide range of voice and upper airway difficulties. Her foundation in this field is strengthened by her extensive training with Voicecraft®, a comprehensive, evidence-based system that facilitates the restoration and optimisation of the voice. Additionally, she has conducted voice training workshops for speech pathologists, educators, and university students.

Jane has completed Lee Silverman Voice Training (LSVT Loud), which she incorporates into her practice to enhance loudness and clarity, particularly for individuals with neurological conditions like Parkinson’s Disease.

She has developed clinical expertise in assessing and managing upper airway disorders such as chronic cough, inducible laryngeal obstruction, and vocal cord dysfunction. As a former Premier League netballer, Jane understands the demands of high-performance environments, which is beneficial for individuals experiencing exercise-induced laryngeal obstruction.

Jane has considerable experience working with young children and their families both in private practice and as part of the Department for Education’s Children’s Centres. She is an accredited Marte Meo Therapist and Colleague Trainer using this approach to help parents and caregivers identify and build upon existing strengths to support a child’s social, emotional, and communication development in everyday situations.

Believing in the profound connection between voice and well-being, Jane has complemented her clinical skills with a Diploma in Counselling and completed a Mindfulness Mentor Training program. This training enhances her ability to support and empower clients through their challenges.

Jane is dedicated to a compassionate, strengths-based and evidence-based practice, ensuring every client feels heard and supported.
